The Ruthless Ruler
April Fury dreamed of finding the legendary Chamber of the Scarab. A courageous explorer and archaeologist, she spent countless sleepless nights poring over books, manuscripts, and ancient papyri, trying to uncover the location of one of the most sinister sites mentioned in the history of ancient Egypt.
The Chamber of the Scarab was built in the personal sanctuary of Pharaoh Tatilut XII, who preferred to pray to the gods away from prying eyes. This sanctuary also housed his treasury, as well as a horrifying reputation for cruel and torturous executions. Tatilut XII was infamous for his unrelenting punishments, sparing no one who crossed him.
The Gift of the Dark God
One day, the pharaoh petitioned Ra for an even more horrifying way to punish his enemies. The Sun God refused, urging the pharaoh to practice kindness and noting that traditional executions were sufficient.
Unconvinced, Tatilut XII turned to Set, the god of chaos and darkness. Seeing the pharaoh’s twisted cruelty, Set gifted him a brood of magical scarabs. These enchanted beetles could transform flesh into golden dust and precious gemstones, though the transformation was slow and excruciatingly painful. Set had no doubt that the pharaoh would make ample use of this infernal gift.
A Long and Painful Death
True to Set’s expectations, Tatilut XII devised a heinous use for the scarabs. He would seal his enemies in sarcophagi, releasing a scarab inside.
For days, the unfortunate victims endured agonizing pain as they slowly transformed into treasures. Thanks to Set’s gift and his own boundless cruelty, Tatilut XII became one of the wealthiest rulers in Egypt’s history.
Brave Conspirators
Naturally, Tatilut XII amassed many enemies. His subjects could only hate him in secret or rebel, knowing such actions would lead to a torturous death. Few dared to challenge the pharaoh openly.
Eventually, a group of conspirators managed to put the tyrant into a magical slumber and sealed him in a sarcophagus with one of Set’s scarabs. Tatilut XII died in torment, and his sanctuary was purposefully forgotten, a nightmarish chapter buried in the sands of time.
Inside the Pharaoh’s Sanctuary
April Fury, however, did not share the sentiments of those who rid the world of the wicked ruler. She longed to find the Chamber of the Scarab and the treasures hidden within for millennia. Her research eventually led her to the very sanctuary where many of Tatilut XII’s enemies had met their end.
April descended the steep staircase into the ruins of the forgotten sanctuary. She encountered deadly traps but narrowly escaped them. In another hall, she found three keys to the ominous treasury. All that remained was to locate the entrance to the Chamber of the Scarab itself…
